  HPX shooting at 1080 24p 59.94hz advice needed!!

  Here’s the problem:

  I have a Panasonic HPX 171 p2 camera. I am currently shooting 1080 at 25p. This is all in Pal land (i’m based in Europe).

  I am using Sony Vegas 9 to edit.

  I want to shoot at 1080 at 24 frames.

  To do this I have to change the frequency from 50HZ to 59.94HZ

  This takes me to NTSC where the frame rate of the footage defaults to 29.970 on the actual footage when I put it on the Vegas timeline.

  To render the footage smoothly on Vegas (to be played back on Youtube) what do I have to do to enable smooth playback?

  In properties what would be the best settings? (24 frames 1080 i’m assuming)

  And what would be the best render settings?

  Would I have to disable resample on each piece of footage?
  Currently it is at playback 1.000 and undersample is 1.000 – beside that says 29.970 fps.

  Remember this is to all playback smoothly for uploading on YouTube but if I wanted to view it back on my TV would I have to change any of the above settings differently?

  Lastly, what would be the best quality for my camera? 1080 24p, 1080i?

  I feel that my footage could be so much better quality than what I have been shooting at using 1080 25p at 50HZ…I shot 1080 24p 59.94HZ a year ago and the picture quality was amazing, but I had so many problems with blurriness when editing it on Vegas and trying to pull down and use the correct frame rate / pulldown on Vegas.

  Any advice at all on this would be much appreciated.

  I’m still trying to get to grips with the camera.

  [Anthony Frame] “I want to shoot at 1080 at 24 frames.”
  Why?

  Make your life easier and shoot 720p25. This is a perfect setting for YouTube.

  I like to know why you think that is better? Better than shooting at 1080i 25fps? I would like to shoot for something that may be used for broadcast purposes as well. Any suggestions on this would be appreciated. Thanks.
