So, we are back on the air, but now in HD 🙂 We were in SD a few years ago and took a bit of vacation. Now we are having a big learning curve for “best practices”.

We have 2 Pana 200’s used for 90% of the time and sometimes some mixed footage (hdv). We have been recording at 720p 30 and editing to final cut in 960×720.

Now we are told to give the broadcaster Sony HDCAM 1920 x 1080 interlace (1080i) or Sony HDCAM SR 1280 x 720 progressive (720p) AND they push the signal at 720p.

This big question is since we are doing high speed cars, boats and sports. Shouldn’t we be recording at 720p 60 and then outputting to the HDCAM SR? Our goal is to have the BEST looking HD sports image. Not a soft 24p film look – which is great, but not for show 🙂

Also any comments are welcome including of getting new cameras, changing work flow etc… Thanks you! These forums have been a great resource and I thank you all! All the best, Vic
