Has anyone try the letus 35mm lens adapter to the hxp-2000..

I am very interested in buying this kit in order to have more control with the depth of field and give my videos a cinematic touch with this lenses…

But someone told me that we cant use SD lenses with HD cameras because you will experience chromatic averations.. I am asking if you have experience with this adapters and lenses and if I would have chromatic averations with this kit.

    Any clue will be appreciated..

    Have a nice day..

Here I give you the link

I don’t know what lenses you are planning on using, but many get great results even with old manual Nikons. You will also need a relay lens to go between the HPX2000 and the Letus adapter. Here is a link to some pictures of a similar setup: https://visualedgeproductions.blogspot.com/2009/04/letus-relay-lens-is-here.html

I want to buy the kit that I posted in the link from B & H…

Do you think I will need another thing that the kit doesnt have?

    what about chromatic averations?

    Thank you for you time

That kit looks like everything you need. I don’t know about chromatic aberrations; I’ve always been happy with what I get with my Letus Extreme. If you can afford it, I recommend getting the Letus Ultimate instead of the Elite. The Elite uses vibrating ground glass and you can only stop down to f4. Once you hit f5.6 or below, the ground glass is visible. Also, if you plan on doing any overcranking for slow motion, the ground glass can show up there as well. The Ultimate uses spinning ground glass which gives you much more flexibility in Fstops, frame rates and shutter speeds.

We haven’t used the Letus, but we have used the P+S Technik on the 2000. It looks amazing.

We offer Letus Ultimates and the Letus B4 Pro 2/3″ relay lens for rental. I have used the setup often on our HDX900 and HPX2700 using Nikon primes. It is a great looking setup, just know that the relay is at its best at f2.8 vs. f1.5 as far as sharpness and contrast, ditto the Nikons.

Clients have used the our Letus setup with many cameras and lenses and have been happy with the results. Some have used the B4 Pro with their own Letus Extremes as well. I agree with Jason that the Ultimate will offer more flexibility, but an Extreme or Elite can look great.

Regarding chromatic aberration, I get less CA issues with the Letus/Nikon setup than with many HD ENG zoom lenses. The Letus B4 Compact is 90% as good as the more expensive B4 Pro, it’s just not quite as fast or sharp wide open.

The P+S Pro 35 is a great rig as well, just expensive, but I’ve seen them used a bit more often these days for half price or less.

I think you mean “chromatic aberrations”. Here is a link to an article that will cover that and other topics regarding the use of SD lenses on HD cameras.

As far as the components are concerned:

-If you can get the Letus ultimate.
    -Get the Zeiss primes.
-Get the remaining of the package for support from Zacuto.

Here is link so you can see the components you would need:

    Note: Zacuto is not cheap.

    Hope this helps
