    Hi-

Downloaded P2 Formatter (for Mac) from the Panasonic site. Installed the driver for the AJ-PCD20 and then downloaded P2 Formatter. When I insert a P2 card it shows up on the desktop but is not recognized by the formatter software. I’ve tried some re-installing etc but no luck.

The only thing I could think of (which is probably not right) is if there’s a problem because the card is a Fuji E series. BTW- it’s a 64 GB card.

    Thanks-
    Paul

Yes, that’s right. You also have to update the firmware on the PCD20, PC only though. I use Parallels on a Mac to do the updating, but you will need to buy it and a copy of Windows.

Keep in mind that the P2 Formatter only works on Firewire.

I doubt that it is a firmware issue, otherwise the card would not mount on the desktop. I suspect that you are using USB perhaps to connect?

[Arthur Aldrich] “I doubt that it is a firmware issue,”

I’m pretty sure it is. Go to this page:

    https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/desk/e/update.htm#p2_mac

Check out the version that needs to be in the PCD20 in order for Eseries cards to work.

    Then read this.

    https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/cs/csregistp2m/ep2main/soft/pcd20/pcd20.htm

I had to update my PCD20 with Parallels and Windows before I could get an E series P2 cards to work properly, even though they mounted ok.

FYI- it seemed to be a USB v. FW as someone said. I tried with FW and it worked fine.
