Shooting with my HVX-202 I need a final release format of 1080P

I was told by a friend that shooting in 720PN 50FPS I actually get twice the resolution per frame and that therefore stretching the image up to a 1080P timeline I will not notice the difference?

Altho he assures me i find it hard to believe.
Has anyone else been told or tested this theory?

    OR

If i shoot 1080 50P and then put the footage on a 1080 25P timeline would i get a in camera slow motion look?

Thanks in advance for any replies
