mixing p2 (HPX301) with canon 7d footage
Dear all,
I come to you with a sore brain! I am trying to decide on how best to match my two file types / frame rates to make the edit easier and of course for the best results!
I am shooting a 6 x 1hr documentary for TV (IRELAND) for a whole year. I have shot P2 in the past and am happy with the workflow etc but we have introduced the Canon 7d for scenic shots and all the beautiful stuff rather than use a 35mm adaptor setup.
Does anyone have any advise about whether to shoot 1920 x 1080 25fps or 1280 x 720 50fps (only frame rate in 720p).
I could shoot 720 50p on both cameras should I…or should we not care and shoot whatever the hell we like?

Shooting actuality, interviews etc. 7d is for set up stuff, tracking, jib etc

Sorry, I was under the impression that you were already shooting with the 301 and needed advice for the 7D.
It depends it you want 25p or 50p. I would probably shoot 25p. So you can shoot 720pN25 with the 301 and 108025p with the Canon. Or you can shoot 1080psf25 with the 301. It’s up to you.
I’d probably go 1080 and 25p (or psf) on both cameras.

I just got the 301 but don’t get the 7d until a few days into the shoot hence not being able to test!
I’ll have to see how the 25p psf looks!
