    Hey there,

    I am using AE CS6

I have a few layers that are spread out over the z-axis. When I pre-comp them they flatten out to have the same z-axis. Is that normal? I have collapse transformations and 3d enabled for the layer.

    Cheers

[Robert Maric] “I have collapse transformations and 3d enabled for the layer.”

You should have Collapse Transformations switched on for the nested comp – this is absolutely necessary to each embedded layer’s 3D-ness into the ‘final comp’.

BTW, it may not be necessary to switch on Collapse Transformation for the layers in the precomps.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate it.

I was making a mistake – I was turning motion blur on instead of enabling collapse transformations 😉

    Works now!

    Thanks again
