Post wants 1080/60i …. But I want 720/24pN Overcranking!
I want to shoot 720/24pN at 60 fps. But the post house will only take 1080/60i. I deliver a hard drive to client after shoot. I carry a laptop w/ FCP w/ me and shoot on an HPX500. What is best work flow to upconvert for them yet shoot slow mo (sports scenes)

Answered this on LAFCPUG. If they want 1080i…you deliver 1080i. Shooting 720p and trying to convert to 1080i on P2 for them to use with Avid when you have FCP…nightmare.
Shoot what the client asks for.

Sports, escpecially football, looks amazing in slo mo. NFL Films is the standard bearer in the sport and they are at 60-120 fps. Shooting 1080 and not being able to do this is a huge bummer. -
I have a MacBook Pro too..and it has the Avid Media Composer software. But if you are shooting P2 and the client is running Avid, do not take it into FCP and do things. Because the client would like to have the original MXF files. As stated on LAFCPUG, there are tools out there for Avid that will convert 720p60 to 720p 29.97 to match the frame rate of their other footage, and if they have a Nitris DX, then you can mix 720p and 1080i rather well…
