  • FCP 6.0.4 and P2 Import install not working

Posted by Rob Sonner on September 29, 2008 at 4:06 am

    Hi,

I am trying to get my FCP working with the latest drivers for the Panasonic P2 to work in the latest version of FCP. I can’t get it to show up in the Import menu in FCP. I’ve reinstalled the software several times. I don’t know if I am downloading the wrong latest driver or what. Anyone have an idea on how to fix this? I am sure I’m missing something or just downloading and installing the wrong P2 drivers.

The one URL i’ve found to download files is at: https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/cs/csregistp2m/ep2main/pcdriver_e.htm

    thanks, rob

Do you have FX Factory installed? Version 1 or 2? This interfered with P2 import.

You know Panasonic P2 is no longer in the Import menu right? It comes in via Log and Transfer.

Hi Noah, thanks for the response. I had heard/read that but it’s now showing up there either. And I’ve installed the drivers so I know I’m missing something. It’s what I get for putting this new version on. I notice on their website they don’t have a version that is specifically supporting 6.0.4 FCP, and the latest version says it only supports 6.0.3?

    best, rob

No it’s not supposed to show up as an option. You just Log and Transfer and then drop P2 folders into the log and transfer window and you’re all set. It’s already part of 6.0.4 out of the box.

OK, i just tried this, and says it contains unsupported media with the parent folder with the “CONTENTS” folder. Three days ago this how i was importing and converting the footage. Then I did an update and nothing. It seems like this will be more intuitive and this is the first encounter i’ve had with hundreds of cards shot where I’ve not been able to import footage while on location or for 2 days afterwards for whatever reason.

Didn’t answer my question…do you have FX FACTORY installed? It causes this feature to not work.

What camera was used? Is it AVC-I or DVCPro HD?

You don’t have File > Log and Transfer?
