I am importing .mxf files from a hard drive into FCP 5.0.4 using the File>Import>Panasonic P2. Most of the footage contains the complete file structure and LASTCLIP.TXT however…. some of the footage contains only the AUDIO and VIDEO folders… I’ve tried creating empty folders for the PROXY, AUDIO, CLIP, ICON and a LASTCLIP.TXT with the required information….but to no avail…. any suggestions??

Have you tried using “Log and Transfer” and directing the finder to the files on the hard drive?
Are the files shot AVC Intra 50/100?
If you are trying to import directly into the browser window with out using the log and transfer action, then you will need to use an MXF-QT re-wrapper, like MXF4QT, or Raylight.
Search the web for demo versions, give it a go and see which way you would like to proceed. Log and transfer is part of FCP but you will have to pay to get the others.
You will need to create the missing folders on the drive so FCP can recognise the file structure. Last clip is not required for this.
