  Client monitor/HD thru SD firewire?

  I suppose that this has been covered ad nauseum. I’m not sure how to search for this. I’m able to import and edit P2 720pn material on FCP/Mac G5 2×3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon yadda yadda…

  Previously, I have been importing DVCPRO50 thru Firewire and monitoring FCP through the Firewire connection. I also have been changing the playback settings in Audio/Video Settings to allow playback through a DVD recorder which worked great for the client monitor.

  This apparently doesn’t work with DVCPROHD 720pn. I can edit just fine on my Cinema displays, but the Firewire connection will only display a still frame. The audio passes fine but not the video. Any thoughts?

  You need to invest in a video card from AJA, Blackmagic or Matrox to go to an external monitor.

  The other option is a 2nd computer monitor set to Digital Cinema Desktop Preview in FCP as a fall back.
