  • P2 Store transfer, “CONTENTS” folder appears, but no directory.

    Hey all, weird problem.

Shooting in Shanghai China and tested everything before leaving and upon arriving and everything worked (updated HVX firmware and P2 Store firmware to allow for 16GB cards before leaving, all tested and working as expected, until today).

Day1 of real shooting today and I am using a P2 store as a card reader to transfer to a MacbookPro, OS 10.4.10 QT 7.1.6.

The P2 card mounts and shows up and shows the appropriate amount of free space on a full card, the problem is that in the contents folder, there’s no directory.

I can drag the lastclip and contents folder over to a hard drive, then the contents directory shows up and everything is there, so all is not lost. Just wondering if anyone has seen this before and makes me a bit leary on what’s going on.

Repaired permissions, zapped PRAM, are there any preferences to trash for this? It’s not an FCP problem, it seems to be an OS problem.

    Any clues?

    Thanks in advance.

In case anyone gives a rat’s booty.

    After further shooting as testing:

This problem seems to only affect 8Gig cards. 16Gig cards show up as normal, 8 Gig cards do not.

The 16Gig firmware for the p2 store seems to have busted proper directory reporting to
    OSX.4.10.

    …..for 8 Gig cards.

Hmm scary- but you say the clips are still there? On an OS level it’s not the end of the world. Still it would be nicer if fixed.

Yeah, it’s a bit disconcerting, but the footage IS there and the sum check is correct.

Upon Day2 of full shooting, I am now realizing that the 16Gig card sometimes reports the directory, sometimes not. I have never seen the 8Gig cards report the directory.

…but the footage is here and it’s coming and looking great. On a geek note we are shooting with a p+s technik and everyone is blown away.
