Hey everyone. I’m looking at buying Panasonic’s new HVX-200 camera with the P2 cards. I’d most likely shoot on the cards or on the Firestore. I’m wondering what people’s experiences with the P2 media and Vegas has been. I’m a loyal Vegas user but am considering a switch to FCP if I find that Final Cut handles the 1080i and 720p HD video better.

I’m aware that you have to use the Raylight conversion to process the P2 .mxf files and wanted to know how people have found the speed of Vegas with those files, the speed of Raylight, what systems they’ve used, etc. If only Vegas supported P2 natively!!!!

    Thanks,
    Marc

There’s no need to convert the MXF files, you can drag them straight into the timeline and edit natively with the Raylight plugin.
