  P2 Import Error FCP 5.0

  Hi All.

  Had my first problem importing to FCP via P2 slot on my powerbook G4 today.
  I am running FCP 5.0. OS 10.3.9.

  Got an error message saying: “One or more P2 clips failed to import; probable incomplete of corrupt files.”

  I have tried repairing clips in the camera, tried drag and drop to the desktop method.
  (I usually import via FCP: file>import>P2.)

  I can watch the files on the camera, and I see thumbnails in the import window… but no import.

  Any ideas?
  Also can I “log and capture” from the 1394?

  FCP 5.0…not 5.0.4? You need FCP 5.0.4 and QT version 7.1.3 MINIMUM in order to import P2 footage.

  Interesting. Import worked for me for about 3-4 months no problem.
  Then all the sudden stopped working.

  Any idea why that would be?

  5.0 can import standard-def, but you need 5.0.4 to import high-def. So were you doing standard-def before and just now switched to high-def?

  Also, FCP had bugs that prevented it from successfully importing all clips. Especially susceptible were clips that were repaired in-camera; if you’re using 5.1.1 or earlier, it fails to successfully import those clips (even though every other program or app can). Those bugs seem to be resolved in 5.1.4. Best thing for you to do is upgrade.
