I was planning to use this for my sports coverage. I cover Lacrosse, Football, Hockey. This camera will be used as team highlight video. I want to do great slo-mo. My mac is not ready to handle HD yet I have a G-5 and it can’t run in real time. I know I need my processor juiced up!
What setting would be best. I am hearing 720 @60

    I am a FCP 4.5 user and a DVDSTPRO2 user

WHich G5? I have a Dual 2Ghz and it works fine. You just need a bit of RAM (3GB) and good fast hard drives…firewire 800 or better yet, a SATA Raid. Faster drives handle HD media and get you better performance.

Your G5 will be fine. I can edit DVCPro HD footage from this camera on my G4 laptop. As Shane said just make sure you get some good drives and RAM. You will also need to upgrade your FCP to ver. 5.0.4 or later, preferably 5.1.4, to handle the P2 import.

I do the same as Frank. My PowerBook G4 is 1.5 GHz. Got 2 GB Ram. Works great.

Make sure your sequence settings match the format in which you import your footage. Otherwise it won’t run in real time.
