Has anyone shot HD aerials with a tyler nose mount and the HVX200? I have shot many times with my DVCpro 50 camcorder but this will be my first try with this camera. I am planning on feeding my laptop and portable drive via firewire in the chopper. I have long remote zoom/focus and Iris control cables so that should work. Should I use the image stablizer or not? Thanks for your help.

Hey Rich. You might want to read my post, here is the link:

I would highly recommend a doing a test before forking over tons of $$ for a heli shoot that is unusable! I ended up shooting it again on the AJ-1400 deck which I thought would solve my problems, NOT! We had another problem, major vibrations issues with the Tyler mount, the top 10-15% of the frame had some serious vibrations, mostly in one direction. Also, you will need an adapter plate to raise the camera up so you can fix the HVX handle to the Tyler. However, this still didn’t solve my vibration problems! I could go on and on here, but I’m sure you get my point!

In a nut shell, it was a ^#$*(#())_ nightmare! Lesson learned, never assume it will work……….. assumption only gets you in trouble!!!
