no lastfile.txt file – AAAAAGGGHHH!!!
Posted by George100 on October 19, 2006 at 4:36 pmI shot some really important footage on the HVX but missed the lastfile.txt on a couple of transfers – is there any way I can get this footage back? I am editing with FCP5.1.2 and have access to “P2 genie” and “P2 log”

October 19, 2006 at 6:59 pmPlease someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that .txt file is used to link a clip that was split over 2 different p2 cards when on fills up and switches to the next. You can manually splice them back together in editing. I made the mistake of not transferring that file many times when I first used the system and it doesn’t seem to affect it other thatn what I described above. Anyone else?

October 19, 2006 at 7:39 pmHi rik – what editing system are you on? I definately can’t import the other files (contents) into FCP. I was told the .txt file was something that tied all the contents folders together in each card.

October 19, 2006 at 7:49 pmThe LASTCLIP.TXT isn’t necessary to import the CONTENTS folder properly. Rick is right, it is there to tie any footage that carries over from one card to the next. I have test imported footage without this file and they import fine.
