Shooting on an HVX200, using the P2 cards. Every clip that I import into FCP ends up at 29.97 no matter what progressive frame rate that I shoot in. Is there something in FCP that I need to do before I import?

YOu need to set the camera to 24PN in order for it to record 24 true frames per second. If you shot 30p, then they’d come in at 29.97.

When you import, FCP does not change the frame rate of the clips. That is all determined by the camera…so when you import it and it says 29.97, then it was shot 29.97. Double check your settings.

    Hello Scott:
If you shot 24p not 24pN it will show as 29.97
you can use Cinema Tools and reverse tele-cine to
    get a 24p file you can use in a 24p timeline…

Uh…no it won’t. It will show up 23.98 if it was shot 24PN on a P2 card.

    Thats what I said…
If Scott shot 720 24p NOT 24pN then it would show up as 29.97….
I have the largest stock footage collection of 720 23.976 and 1080 23.976
footage around…this month the collection will be increased dramatically
and some special surprises for November should propel it along quite nicely!!
