Hello all. I am looking for a way to back up my P2 media using a FW800 cable from my mac or powerbook to a SATA drive and then put that drive on the shelf. I don’t want an enclosure or anything with a tray, I just want to mount a bare drive easily and quickly. I think I have found one a weibetech, but wanted to know if there are any others out there.

Also, are there such things as a drive case? I have looked but couldn’t find one. I was thinking a small stackable box to put this bare drive in to protect it from dust and static. Any clues?

    Thanks for your time.

Other World computing and Geeks.com sell SATA to USB cables that allow you connect internal SATA drives to your computer via USB 2.0. And you can get firewire cases for like $30-$40 and just keep the top off and swap out drives. Keep the plastic that the drives ship in and use that to wrap and store the drives.

    That is what I do.

Noah, how would you power the drive with this sort of setup?

Thanks for the responses from everyone.
