We are shooting in 24P on the HVX-200. Copied the files from P2 card in my G4 PB to an external drive. Imported them into FCP 5.0.4 with the P2 import function. They show up as 60P? Looks like 24P on playback but they will not play in a 24p sequence without a render.

While I’m here, what’s the best way to get the footage into After Effects?

    Thanks, AG

[Aaron Goddard] “We are shooting in 24P on the HVX-200. …They show up as 60P”

24p footage (Not 24pn) will need to be treated the same as Varicam footage has to be
you need to remove the pulldown cadence from the 60p stream.

You can use the Software Frame Rate converter in the same manner as you would footage transfered from tape.

Importing P2 files to FCP 5.04 then locate the files in your scratch disk ans use Cinema Tools to Reverse Telecine . Then import the new files into FCP they will now play on a 24fps timeline. FCP 5.1 is supposed to remove pulldown automatically.

It does- unless you did not shoot 24pA or 24pn.
