March 18, 2013 at 5:19 pmSounds like a great learning opportunity.
I have held off upgrading to Pro since it seems that Mocha AE does all I need. And for camera tracking I use Syntheyes which is designed for this purpose.
It would take a really innovative addition to motivate me to upgrade.

Yes, Ive seen what it has to offer a while ago. Nothing worth upgrading to from my perspective.

Not everyone’s got Syntheyes and it cost almost twice as much as the upgrade from mochaAE (v2.6.2) to mochaPro.[Tom Daigon] “Yes, Ive seen what it has to offer a while ago. Nothing worth upgrading to from my perspective.
“The upgrade gets mochaAE folks into 3D tracking without having to learn a new UI. mochaPro does 3D object tracking which AE doesn’t. The upgrade is also a lot cheaper than Syntheyes. Then again, comparing Syntheyes to mochaPro isn’t an ideal comparison at all.
If you do any roto work, basic or complex, then it’s pretty obvious which is the tool you’re going to use.
Then there’s the Dope Sheet which is pretty cool for speeding up roto work on certain projects. The Nudge points/spline feature is also useful especially to AE folks that are used to nudging their masks with the arrow keys.

March 21, 2013 at 3:02 amMocha for AE fills my needs just fine.
The additional feature of the camera tracker in Mocha Pro prompted the comparison to Syntheyes. Obviously its a much better choice for that task as anyone familiar with it would know.
