3D light string
Posted by Dave Hiebert on March 7, 2013 at 4:42 amHere’s what I need to do…and I hope this makes sense. I need a string of light that will fly through a scene and look like the camera is following it. The string then flies into another scene and intertwines itself in and around the large letters of a word.
How could i do this? Is this a job for Trapcode Particular and/or Stroke or….?
I didn’t even know where to start in my search for tutorials like this.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I need a string of light that will fly through a scene and look like the camera is following it.You can use Trapcode Particular to create Light Streaks.
See the Tutorial:
https://library.creativecow.net/articles/kramer_andrew/nano.phpThere are two parts, Make sure you watch both of them.
look like the camera is following it.You can attach the Emitter Position to a Null Object and then Parent the Camera to the Null.
You can also pick-whip the Point of Interest of Camera to Emitters Position.
Parent Particular Emitter to a Null Object

March 7, 2013 at 11:45 pmYou had said there were two parts to the tutorial. I can only find one. Also, when you say “attach” the Emitter position to a Null object do you mean parent or pickwhip? I can’t seem to get this to work.
Thanks

March 8, 2013 at 1:17 amHere is the second part:
https://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/light_streaks_2/
By parenting I meant using pick-whip to link emitter position to that of null using expression.
Alt/Optn + Click on emitter position XY and use pick-whip to link it to the position XY(just release the pick whip on position parameter) of Null object. Then do the same for position Z. Using pick-whip attach position Z of emitter to position Z of Null(This time you have to release pick whip on Z coordinate of Null only and not to the position parameter).
Hope this may help.
