    Have you tried:

    – rebooting
    – reinstalling QuickTime
    – reinstalling After Effects

    …?

Thanks for your help. I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled. Went to the troubleshooting page but it didn’t seem to apply to my issue, any other ideas?

.mov is just a file container. Open the file in QuickTime, Go to Windows> Show Movie Inspector and the video codec and then

Followup question for Dave’s Stock Answer #1 (If the footage you imported into AE is any kind of the following — footage in an HDV acquisition codec, MPEG1, MPEG2, AVCHD, mp4, mts, m2t, H.261 or H.264 — you need to convert it to a different codec.)

Also Do you have any Codec Pack installed like K-Lite?

Okay. Thank you, I tried doing that to the file and this is what I get for the format:

    Photo- – JPEG, 720 x 486 millions.

I don’t have any codec packs installed. I’m assuming this would help?
