  After Effects Cache Confusion

  Hi – I’ve had a search through the forums to try and find an answer, but cant seem to.

  I’m using AE CS6 with a 120GB SSD installed and used solely as my AE cache drive. I have it set so my maximum disk cache size is 80GB.

  However – every time I start AE I get a message saying ‘there is not enough room on the drive for the cache.’

  I cant seem to find any info on, and dont really understand why this is happening.

  Is AEs’ performance being affected? Should I be using some other setting?

  Any advice would be most welcome.

  Empty your Disk Cache and Clean Database and Cache(Edit> Preferences >Media and Disk Cache).

  I too have an 120GB SSD dedicated as the Disk Cache and frequently get the warning that there isn’t enough room on the drive, despite it being nearly empty.

  I have 100GB allotted to the cache, and the drive may only have 10GB used when the warning appears.

  My solution is to do what Vishesh has recommended, however I am still confused about why this continues to happen on a drive with more that adequate free space.

  Hi Everyone.

  Thank you Vishesh. I can’t believe I didn’t think of that. DOH!!!!!!!

  Sorted the problem straight away.

  However – I dont quite understand why AE doesn’t do that automatically for you when you approach the limit you have set. They could at least provide that as an option.
