    Hi there

…. have a 2.5 D ( stylised ) opening box – the lid is made up of a back and a front so that when it opens you can see the inside.

This looks much better than expected as the lighting and shadows ‘sell’ the animation quite nicely.

However this is just an element in a much larger comp which has a camera move so a dont want to ‘bake’ it and lose the fake 3d look as it rotates.

Anybody know do I get this ‘sub-master’ element copied from its original project file to the main composition please ?

Hi Dave — many thanks —- excellent stuff ….

Both of your extra info pointers are news to me and if you have time a bit more as below would be most useful

….” and use the Reduce Project command.”

I presume this clears out absolutely everything you do not need ?

”I presume you’re fully aware that almost every layer in the box project should be 3D,”

    — yes got that one thanks

”and that you’ll make use of the Collapse Transformations switch to turn this box into a 3D object.”

    — ! ! ? — this sounds VERY interesting — presumably it is still possible to animate the lid / rotate / whatever but the shadows / lighting work as if one object ?

    — many thanks again Dave —–

    Chris
