Create a double key: the parts that are white have one background, black have another
This is really hurting my brain. I have tried hard, I truly have. I created a decent workaround in FCPX but it’s just not right.
I have a shot of two silhouetted people, faces black, background white.
I want to have one image/composite in the background, and another in their faces. I was able to do it by exporting what I wanted in the middle, with the faces as alpha channels, but then that background is locked in.
I want to be able to play with and adjust what’s in the faces and what’s in the background. Is there a way to use a matte and say “everything that’s white, put all this there, everything that’s black put all this.”?? The problem I run into is that the key starts to affect the white/black parts of the the background I added.
My deepest gratitude to anyone who can help. I have tried for hours and I just can’t get it.
I’m a beginner in Motion though I’ve edited on FCP for a long time.
Thank you!Edit: I think I need to use my silhouette as a mask shape instead of keying it. I will try this.
