Animation Codec – Motion 4 vs Motion 5
Hi
I’m doing a calligraphy animation ( hand write animated text), so it is simple white or black over transparency background. so best Codec to use is Animation.
In Motion 4 a file export video file size is around 1-2 MB, animation codec + Alpha
In Motion 5 same file produce a 20-30 MB movie in size
Any EXPLANATION, coz i’m going crazy. . .
I’m looking for the minimum video size (with Alpha channel)

I think you are mistaken about an animation codec file being 1-2 megabytes unless it was a couple frames long.
Animation codec is pretty old. Give ProRes 4444 a try. That’s the standard.

check the data rate in the photos. the lower from motion 4 and the higher from motion 5
simple export or share steps
you can notice the duration too 5 seconds and 8 seconds

I don’t know. If they’re not the same animation, it is variable bit rate, so it’s deeming the other needs ore. Perhaps you have one with a moving camera and the other is locked off. Why worry about 20megs either way?
But use the better ProRes 4444 if you can. Should be better results in smaller file.

Question is: where are you going from there? Because if you’re going to FCP, then there is no need to render at all.

I’m uploading these animation for selling on line.
and why the small size, coz i’m living in a place with the fastest internet in the universe 😉thnx for yr consideration.
i’ll go back to motion 4

It would be an interesting test to see if you put the animation file from Motion5 into Motion 4 and output to see if it decreases the file size so dramatically.

The only parameter that affects file size is bitrate. Obviously Motion 5 is using a much higher bitrate than Motion 4 did which is why the file is so much bigger (i.e., 2/Mbps in Motion 4 compared to 24/Mbps in Motion 5). If you want to control the file size, use Send to Compressor… so that you can control the bitrate yourself.

You can’t export Animation in Motion 5 without compressor as in motion 4.
Still you can’t change the bitrate, even if u changed the quality, you still get the same file size. and u get another issue random frame rate as for ex. 20.3 or 19.7. hehehh ehehe hehehhe hehheh
another weird issue, (motion 5 + compressor) it you forced the frame rate to 25 or 24 (what ever). the file size go to gigabytes hehhehhehh hehehehehe.
still I’m not looking for a solution, motion 4 is great for my work.
