As I realize I’m still learning to do what I’ve known how to do in AE for years I have another question…

How do you auto-orient objects along a path? For example I have a car driving along a curvy path/road and I’d like it to always face the direction it’s traveling, turning appropriately as the path turns. In AE it’s called auto-orient along path.

Add the Align to Motion (Simulation) behavior.

Excellent I’m on the right path as I just figured that out (snap alignment to motion, correct?) EXCEPT, it turns my car 90degrees and it points the side of the car down the path. Perfectly sideways however. It seems to override the actual rotate controls. In AE, auto orient is similar to an “add” parameter. It orients it, but if you’ve adjusted the rotation yourself, it adds the info together.

I’m assuming you have the rotation axis set to Z? But if you don’t want to edit the graphic accordingly, then simply apply both behaviors to the group that the car is in and position, scale, rotate etc. as needed within the group.
