Set up a Motion Path to repeat?
Hi there,
Newb to Apple Motion here. I’ve gone through a number of tutorials but I can’t find a solution to a couple questions related to Motion Paths.
Let’s say I have a straight line motion path of a ball going from point A to point B.
I am having trouble finding a solution to the following without a lot of copy and pasting:
2. How do I set up multiple balls to follow along the same path delayed by 1 second.
2. How do I set up that motion to repeat throughout the timeline until I want it to stop?

Use a Replicator set to Line and use a sequence replicator behavior to animate the balls across the line – as many as you like

Hi Mark,
Thanks so much for your response. I was not aware of the replicator tools.
So, I have applied the replicator and the sequence replicator, but I cannot figure out how to…
1. Repeat the motion path.
2. Set the spacing for the balls.Can you point me in the right direction?

One way would be to crank up the number of points, then use the Sequence Replicator to add the Position of the balls – then move them way off to the left, set the Spread to one, and each one will slide onto the screen from the left. If you want them to slide all the way off the screen, just slide the whole replicator off the screen. Many ways to work with the replicator, it’s a great tool. Hey, thanks for the follow up. Just one more question for you.
I have created a motion path that is a custom shape. The problem I am running into is that the balls are in a straight line and not following along the motion path I have set up.
To achieve what I have in mind, I have copied the group and spread them out by a half second so it is a continuous loop of balls going along my motion path. I wonder if there is a better way of achieving this?

If you want the replicator to make copies of objects along your custom shape you need to a) draw the shape with the shape tools so that it’s a shape object (graphics won’t work) and b) set the replicator Shape to Geometry and drag your shape from the Layers list to the well.
