  Importing clips with alpha into Motion

  Hey

  So I’ve got some footage that I’ve keyed and exported out using the Apple ProRes 4444 codec. Now when I import this footage into motion, in the media tab it displays the alpha channel in the preview thumbnail fine. But as soon as you import the footage into the timeline, the alpha channel disappears and it is replaced with black.

  Now I’ve been able to get around this by exporting the footage out using the Animation codec, but it just seems weird to me that the ProRes 4444 codec won’t be recognised in motion seeing it uses it to export out alpha channels…

  Anyone got any thoughts?

  Use animation codec for alpha. I have noticed that pro res have issues with alpha channel.
