    1080P30 clip…

I have a 5 second clip of a baby crawling that I want to slow down. I applied optical flow as the frame blender at 40% speed. There is a little wheel that has now been turning next to the player controls for about 10 minutes.

Wow! it just finished and looks like crap. When is using this blend filter worthwhile? The straight blend filter does a much smoother job…

    HI back,

I think you got yourself an answer, you have to try all three types of frame blending and you ultimately need to decide which result looks good to you. It is misconception that Optical Flow creates best results.
Also if you have finished with Optical Flow, make sure you go to Preferences which is under the Motion menu/ then go to Caches and Press the button that says Delete Retiming Cache….
