  Help. How to make a wheel on a car roll att right speed ?

  Hi

  I need help to get a par of wheels roll in the right speed when the car is driving across the screen.
  The car is made in photoshop and the wheel is on seperat layers, but is

  I’m assuming the name of your car layer is “car”, and that you’ve made it the parent of the wheel layers, and the wheel diameter is the same as the wheel’s layer width. Then you just need something like this for the wheel’s rotation:

  car = thisComp.layer(“car”);
  diam = width;
  dist = length(car.position,car.position.valueAtTime(0));
  value + dist*360/diam*Math.PI;

  So all the wheels don’t look the same, you can set their initial rotation to different values.

  Oh yeah, one more thing – you have to keyframe the movement of the car before the wheels will turn.

  This exact project is done in the Total Training for Adobe After Effects 6.5 training video series. If you do not have it I highly recommend getting the set. I pull from it for various projects as needed rather than watch the shole thing through. It is about 60 hours of incredible instruction from the basics and the screen layout to the difficult and plug-ins.

  Totally worth the money.
