  • How to build a fake reflection in Motion that looks slick as cover flow?

    The project:
I have an irregular solid shape in png format alpha keying in black space, and I want to reflect it into a glass-like plane in the foreground of the shot, very much the same way things look in Cover Flow. What I did so far was to fake up a translucent gradient-shaded plane with the same solid in photoshop, and when I import the layered .psd and line it up to look like my shape is hovering over a glass table top, it works, more or less – but it is, well, kind of “meh”. Lacks the real gloss and sheen of the look of cover flow. How should I approach constructing this scene in a better way? More work on the photoshop side, and if so, what? OR am I missing a trick in Motion that makes this easy?

Thanks as always for any guidance, you guys are my new heroes this month as I’m doing OJT with Motion while under client deadlines, never the most relaxing way to try to learn something new.
