motion tracking a clone layer?
Is it possible to motion track on a clone layer in Motion 4? I can’t seem to get it to work and I need to stabilize the track a second time if possible to control slow drift of the camera. Any ideas or tips?

I’ve never tried and took a look in the manual and this is what the Manual says:On page 1304 —- Cloned objects cannot be tracked.

Why do you need to track a clone layer? Why can’t you track the clip itself?

I did track it and it is greatly improved, but we (for various reasons) have to take a hand held clip and make it look like a tripod clip. the tracking is good, but it still drifts a bit around the screen. maybe I’m doing it wrong but it seems a second tracker would lock it down just right!

Oh, so you are using the Stabilize Behavior? If tweaking the settings doesn’t work and you want to do it again you could always bake the clip. This means you export it out and then import the exported clip and run the Stabilize Behavior on it. Hope this helps.

DOH! of course. I probably shouldn’t ask questions when sleep deprived. That solution will work just fine for this, thanks a bunch for illuminating me!
