  Motion files not opening

  Hi,

  I’ve had this problem twice in the last two days now. I have been working on a project in Motion, and working with various saved projects on the day that I save them it works fine. But if I want to go back to a saved project and work on it the next day, it won’t show up in my FCP timeline nor will it open in Motion itself – the error message “Motion could not open the file” simply appears instead with no further information.

  I’m on a MacPro OS X 10.5.8, working on Motion 3 and FCP 6.0.6

  Any ideas what might be the issue?

  Hi – I have a slightly different problem. Am using Motion 4, and FCP in Final Cut Studio 2, mac OS 10.5.8 No problem pulling HDV content into the timeline but when I ‘Send To’ Motion to do some special effects, it says NO WAY, or rather I get a chequerboard in the Motion canvas and the reconnect goes nowhere. My capture preset is HDV ProRes 422.

  Can anyone tell me why I can’t just open the clip in Motion, seamlessly – like round tripping is supposed to be ? I am new at this so maybe I am overlooking something basic?

  Any help most appreciated
