Probably out of the range of Motion’s capabilities, but I’d like to create an effect where liquid pours and creates text, as if the text was a container and the liquid was filling it up. Just curious if this would be possible in Motion, and if not, where else I might want to investigate. Thanks!

Did you look a couple of threads down on how to create liquid?

Haha I did right after I posted, not sure how I missed it. It seems like if you were very precise with the edge collision you could do it, but I was more looking for a third party filter or something similar.

I wonder if the edge collision detection can be driven by the alpha of a text object? Even if it could be done, you’d need superb logical skills to stack the layers to prevent the counters from being filled.

Filling a text object is easy. Just shoot an aquarium and matte that into your letters. Creating text shapes (or any shapes) from a simulated liquid is an endless quest of even the best 3D artists.

    Hi

i think you are looking for something more like this tutorial:

    https://library.creativecow.net/articles/martin_chris/liquid_logo.php

it is possible to do in motion with some help from masks and emitters but to really get the effect
you need to do it in a 3D program like Cinema 4D
