    I have two monitors, a 17 and a 23 inch.

Mac Pro dual core Intel with 6GB ram, 2.66. Motion 3 runs very slowly and I don’t want to only use one monitor.

I have a X1900 card now but would like to buy the best new card and use it so that each monitor had its own card.

Would getting the ATI Radeon HD 3870 be the way to go? I see it can support two cards but am I right in assuming I could configure it to work alongside my X1900?

    Thank you.

One video card will support two monitors. You might be in for a world of the spinning beach ball of death as well as other random conflicts if you mix video cards. Your X1900 should support 2 monitors as it is, not that keeping your existing video card will speed things up.

Thank you for the tip but I found that with my two monitors Motion was VERY slow and faster when I only used one monitor.
