  No audio or metering in “Record”

  I just loaded Audition 3.0 ( I run Windows 7),began playing audio through the computer (Windows Recording Mixer set to “Line input”) and I am not getting visual level info on the timeline, even though the Line Input vertical meter is kicking (on the Input selector menu in the “Windows Recording Mixer”). I get a good horizontal level indication at the bottom of the screen on playback (on the “Levels” line), but very weak audio and no visual info on the timeline. How can I get metering and audio in the record mode and playback mode so that I can monitor the recording, play back the file and save it? I’m oviously missing something in the setup.
