  sound card recommendation?

  I recently purchased Audition 3 to do some multitrack recording (metal and industrial) and I think it’s time to upgrade my sound card.

  I was looking at the E-MU 1616. Is that overkill? Anyone have any suggestions?

  A PCI device is only useful on a desktop but it looks like a nice piece, lots of software too.
  If you want more versatility either a USB or Firewire device would be better.
