  • Difference in audio clipping between PPro 1.5 and Audition 1.5?

Posted by Ruby Gold on June 27, 2006 at 7:37 pm

I have a video clip where parts of the audio are blown out (top of the waveform is flattened), but in the PPro 1.5 on the Audio Mixer it only registers in the “yellow” area. When I drop the same audio into Audition 1.5, the places where there’s audio clipping register as such–going into the “red” area on the meter.

Does anyone know why there is this difference between how this audio registers in the two apps and which to believe? Also, I thought that nothing in post can really repair clipped audio, but I tried using the “clip restoration” effect in Audition, and it appears to repair it. Has anyone used this effect before and is it the miracle cure it looks to be? Thanks-
