Hello! I am animating something complicated with the puppet tool.

I’m trying to figure out how to put arcs into my motion paths using the puppet pin tool. I know there’s a way to do it because I accidentally did it once…I just can’t figure out how I did it and I can’t seem to find any information online. I think I’m searching with the wrong keywords.

Here’s a picture of what I’m talking about:

The one on the left is what I’m trying to get, the one on the right is what I’m stuck with.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you use the convert vertex tool (G) in the comp window you should be able to get bezier handles so you can shape the path of the pin.

If you’re doing complicated animation with puppet pin I’d recommend you link your pins to nulls and animate nulls instead. It’s much more flexible, and allows parenting as well.

if you google ‘linking puppet pins to nulls’ there are quite a few threads around about how to do it.
There is also a few scripts that do this for you, including DUIK tools ( https://ik.duduf.com/ ) which I’ve used myself.
