Hi folks! Need some help figurin’ out how to create gold/platinum studded images in AE just like the ones in this trailer of the 2011 film New Year’s Eve — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BatT32bvk2w

The WB logo at the beginning and the squares in the title at the end. I’m thinking CC Ball Action to start with but I’m looking for a rougher texture rather than round circles. Thanks for any help.

Best way is to do it using a plugin that can provide true 3d with displacement or bump maps and reflections. At this moment you can have a choice of Mettle products- FreeForm Pro (regular Free Form comes with AE- under Digieffects) or ShapeShifter AE or Zaxwerks Invigorator Pro.
