  what’s this text effect in after effects

  so I have a basic understanding of after effects and I’m still learning alot of it’s features and I wanted to know if someone could tell me what the effect used in the beginning this video is called

  it’s in the first 20 seconds where the text jerks around in different 3d like colors, I wanted to know if someone could tell me what that’s called or how it’s done

  That effect is called chromatic aberration, and it can be done with the Video CoPilot Twitch plugin (looks like what was used there, imo) or a cheaper plugin called Separate RGB.

  There is also a very nice tutorial for doing it without plugins at all here.
