Cuda Driver
Posted by Stig Olsen on May 3, 2012 at 3:12 pmHi I have this graphic card in my Avid/AE mac.
ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT:
Chipset Model: ATI Radeon HD 2600
Type: GPUI have not updated the driver since last decade.
Is this a cuda card, is it any point in updating the driver?Stig

May 3, 2012 at 3:25 pmcuda is an nvidia invention, so anything requiring cuda would not be supported on your ati card.
you could look for a list of nvidia cards that adobe (i assume this is involving adobe products) lists and cross reference that with nvidia cards that will work with your mac and version of osx.
also note that other applications, like apple’s color, may be better optimized for ati cards. so you might need to check into what’s best with the software that you use most.

May 4, 2012 at 1:25 amHere is the current list of CUDA cards that are supported by CS6 – take note that this list will likely increase as nVidia’s new generation of cards, Kepler, was introduced this past March.
Take note that not all cards with CUDA cores are supported by AE or PPro. FWIW, PPro CS6 supports openCL and that means some of the ATI cards. But AE CS6, as it is, only supports CUDA, or specifically, nVidia’s optiX ray-tracing technology which harnesses CUDA.

Here’s a video on performance tips with AE CS6 –
