Brand new, using 6.5, working on first disc of Total Training. There’s a reference to using alt-click and drag to scale a layer. This doesn’t work on my machine, it only switches to a wireframe and moves the layer. Am I missing something here?

    thanks

You have to grab it by the corner ponts to scale.

If the Live update button (2 square, one white with an x over a grey one)is on in the timeline Alt will make it work in wireframe for the transformation. Otherwise the opposite -it transforms in wireframe always, unless you hit Alt.

Shift while dragging the corner scales it equally on all sides.

Alt+Shift will do a combo of the 2.

I remember that you could scale a layer this way in previous versions. It was handy when you were zoomed in and couldn’t see the control points. There is a keyboard shortcut for scaling which you may find hand, it’s Option (alt on PC) and the plus/minus keys on the keypad. Hold down Shift as well to scale by a factor of 10.

Yeah, the key to this tip was that if the handles are off screen you could shrink the image without panning around. The plus/minus keys seem to be a good tip though. Thanks for the responses!
