  DVD Streching on tv, Looks zoomed

  Hey all.

  I have recently just created my first DVD using Encore and I’m rather proud of how it has turned out.
  However, when I went to try it on my dvd player the menus and footage looked as if it was stretched out and zoomed in.
  Some of the buttons and text was cut off and when I came to play the movie that was also cut off at the edges.

  What setting am I missing here?

  I tried the dvd on another tv/dvd setup and the same thing happened so ether both tv’s are setup wrong or I have done something wrong on the dvd.

  Any help would be appreciated.

  Hi PomTom,

  We’re going to need some more information before any suggestions can be made.

  What format did you start with – PAL or NTSC?

  Standard or widescreen? HD?

  What were the Premiere sequence settings, for instance “1080i 29.97”?

  What kind of TV – standard or widescreen?

  It’s possible that you have created a 4:3 DVD and are viewing on a widescreen that is stretching to fill the screen, and this is usually a setting in the TV menu.

  We need to know the workflow you used to nail down where things went bad.

  Hi Jeff Pulera,

  It seems I have similar problem as Pom Tom.
  My source footage is 1920 x 1080 29.97 fps progressive from Sony EX3
  camcorder. I have exported it from Premier Pro CS5 to MPEG2 Blu-ray with preset “Match Source Attributes (High Quality)” then wrote to BD-R disc. When I play disc on Blu-ray player on both of my 1080p HDTV it is streched. Please, help to fix this problem. I am newbie in this business.

  Hi Alex,

  Without seeing an example of the stretching, hard to say where things went wrong. Since the source and delivery SHOULD be the same format, without any 4:3 to 16:9 or scaling conversions, I don’t know what might have happened.

  I do avoid “Match Source Attributes” because that takes away control from the user. You should be choosing “MPEG-2 for Blu-ray” or “H.264 for Blu-ray” for output format, and selecting the appropriate preset then that best matches the footage type.
