    Hi all.

I’m very new to DVD authoring and I have a DVD I wish to distribute in various countries (PAL and NTSC). Can I create a Master in Encore (CS5.5) that is region free and will play in both PAL and NTSC or do I need to create a region free disc for both NTSC and PAL?

Can I create a Region Free Disc in Encore CS5?

Or is this something I can get the DVD Duplication company to handle if I say give them a Region 2, PAL Master?

I release that the answer might be staring me in the face or be obvious but like I said before, Im very new to this.

    Thanks

Region Specification is not possible for burned media. If you will be having your disc replicated at a facility (using a glass master where they press the disc), then you can specify the region in Encore and create a DDP image. You will likely want to just leave it as the default region free though.

NTSC can be played in all PAL players, so you might as well leave it as NTSC. By the way, PAL and NTSC are not just a region setting, they are completely different framerates and resolutions of the video.

Thanks Jon, I figured as much but I just wanted to be 100% sure.
