Is there a way to compress the video more in Encore so it will fit a single layer DVD? I can’t find any adjustments in the preferences or settings.

Right now I’m using Encore CS4 on a Mac. I have 1 hr & 40 minutes of HD ProRes edited footage. Encore will only compress it down to 5.6 Gig’s, so I have to use a Dual Layer DVD. I have a client that requested it be put onto a single layer DVD. I have 4 pages of basice menu’s.

Adjust your transcode settings to custom or change to a different preset. For 1 hr. 40 min. with no ROM Content here are the settings to maximize quality:
100 min. PCM audio with 5% headroom = 4.4 Mbps
    100 min. AC-3 audio with 5% headroom = 5.7 Mbps
100 min. PCM audio with 10% headroom = 4.1 Mbps
    100 min. AC-3 audio with 10% headroom = 5.4 Mbps

Hope this helps – on PC, right click file to “Transcode Settings” and if you want to customize, go to “Edit Quality Presets”

I’m on a Mac. Where in the Menu can I change the transcode settings?

Sorry – I don’t know on MAC – the help menu will take you straight there though.

    Hi Brent ,

You can do the following :

    1. Go to File>Edit Quality Presets ..
    2. Make changes in settings and save preset with a name.
    3. Click ok.
    4. Now from project panel , select asset right click and choose Transcode settings.
    5. From DVD Transcoding dropdown choose the preset you created.
    6. Click ok.
    7. Do the same for all assets( if you have more)
    8. Now go to build and check disc info. If it says the data is less than 4.7GB , it will fit in single layer.

    Thanks
    Minu
