    We need some urgent help…..

We’re using an 8-core Mac Pro (OS Leopard) with Final Cut Studio 3 &
Adobe Production Suite CS4. We shoot on 5Ds and EX3s, transcoding the
5D material to ProRes LT using Canon’s plugin for FCP, then export our
finished videos from the timeline in full quality.

In the past we’ve tried using Compressor to make the H264 assets for
Encore, but Encore hung for 10 minutes or so (or crashed completely)
every time we pulled in even a single asset, so that’s a no-go.

Our workflow now is that we pull the full-quality mov files into Adobe
Encore and have Encore transcode all the assets to H264 itself and
build a bluray ISO which we then burn (usually to a dual-layer 50GB
disc – there can be as much as about 4 hours we need on a single
    disc).

That was working fine for the last few projects, but the issue we’re
having now is that we set the build process off and leave it to run
overnight (because of the time it takes to transcode), but when we
come back in the morning Encore has crashed and there’s just the OS X
error message telling us that Encore has crashed and would we like to
send a report. We know that the motion menu has rendered fine, because
we’ve seen that that is working before we’ve left it to run overnight.

We haven’t updated any software since it was last working, and our
workflow hasn’t changed. We’ve tried restarting, re-building the
Encore project, we’ve made sure there’s plenty of space on all of our
    drives.

It’s not an option to re-install everything at this point (because the
client is waiting and is becoming impatient), but is there anything
anyone can suggest that we haven’t tried, because we’ve hit a wall!!!

Delete the AuthorScriptHDMVSessions folder that’s in the En project folder and try again.

    hey martin,
I never had any issue while importing assets created with compressor into encore CS4 or CS5.

if you have choosen the right project-settings your assets wont be transcoded.

it´ll take a LOT time to import, depending on the duration of your film. encore will create meta-datas while importing the h264-assets onto your system-drive.

please have a look at your preferences>media you should clean the media cache if you have trouble with the meta-datas.

if you have a PC or bootcamp by side you can also choose to have a look at EasyBD from DVD Logic. you can create spec-level BDs and if you need to have some nice menus you could do this with IGEditor.

    cheers and good luck
