  • Why the change in gamma for menus?

For a blu-ray h.264 project I made motion menus in Sony Vegas Pro that have some filters applied, such as levels and a movie look. I did this while monitoring on my TV set.

When I set the motion menu in Encore CS4 to the file I exported from Vegas I can see it in the Encore monitor window and the levels are fine. But when it finishes building and burning the BD-RE, the gamma is noticeably higher, as if it would’ve converted from RGB full range to RGB Studio. But in the Encore templates for encoding there’s no option to do such conversion, or to prevent it from happening. I tested this exporting from Vegas with two different formats, Lagarith in RGB mode, and h.264, and it happens in both. Again, this is not in the exported file, it shifts gamma levels when Encore recompresses the menu video.

Can anyone tell me if there’s a way to keep the same levels as shown in the original file?
